As Chief Operating Officer of Plainsurf Solutions and operations leader across Asia for Innovate Dynamic, Suhas Surse has built his career on a powerful principle: technology should work for people, not the other way around.

From engineer to operations leader, Suhas now orchestrates operations across diverse markets in Asia and the Middle East. His expertise spans AI/ML, blockchain, cloud technologies, and e-commerce, but what truly sets him apart is his cultural agility understanding that Asia’s innovation-driven markets require different approaches than the Middle East’s vision-driven landscapes.

A SAFe Scrum Master and passionate mentor, Suhas believes operational excellence isn’t about perfection it’s about creating systems where people thrive and innovation becomes habitual. In this conversation, he shares insights on scaling across global markets, building trust in distributed teams, and creating a legacy where innovation equals inclusion.

Leadership Journey & Operations Excellence

You’ve built a strong career from engineering to operations leadership. What inspired this transition?

My journey began as an engineer fascinated by how systems work but I soon realized the real challenge isn’t just in building technology, it’s in making it work for people. The transition to operations came naturally as I wanted to connect technology with impact ensuring that every process, team, and outcome aligned with real business value. I was inspired by the idea of turning technical execution into operational excellence that drives growth.

As COO of Plainsurf Solutions, what does “operational excellence” mean to you in real business impact?

Operational excellence isn’t about perfection it’s about consistency, clarity, and continuous improvement. At Plainsurf, it means creating systems where people thrive, bottlenecks disappear, and innovation becomes a habit. Real impact is when teams know exactly why they’re doing what they’re doing when every action aligns with customer success and long-term scalability.

Many companies adopt agile as a framework. How do you make sure agile becomes a culture?

Agile becomes culture when it’s not just on paper, but in practice. I emphasize transparency, trust, and empowerment letting teams own their outcomes rather than just follow sprints. We celebrate adaptability, not just speed. True agility is when teams proactively identify challenges, communicate openly, and deliver value continuously without fear of change.

Digital Transformation & Technology Strategy

You bring experience across AI/ML, blockchain, cloud, and e-commerce. Which technologies are delivering the fastest ROI in digital transformation today?

AI and automation are leading the ROI curve right now especially when applied to process intelligence, personalization, and predictive operations. But the real differentiator is not the tool it’s integration. At Plainsurf and Innovate Dynamic, we focus on AI combined with automation and data-driven decision systems that optimize both performance and customer experience.

What are the most common misconceptions companies have when they say they want to “go digital”?

Many assume digital transformation is a software upgrade it’s not. It’s a mindset shift. True transformation happens when people, data, and processes evolve together. Buying a new CRM or AI platform doesn’t make an organization digital; aligning culture, purpose, and process does.

How do you measure transformation success, beyond speed or cost reduction?

We look at three key dimensions sustainability, scalability, and satisfaction. Is the solution sustainable over time? Does it scale with growth? And most importantly, are the teams and customers happier than before? True transformation is measured not in numbers alone, but in how seamlessly technology enables people to do their best work.

Scaling Across Regions: Asia, Middle East, Global

You lead operations across Asia for Innovate Dynamic what are the biggest differences in scaling products in Asia vs. the Middle East?

Asia is innovation-driven; the Middle East is vision-driven. In Asia, the focus is on speed and adaptability, while in the Middle East, it’s about quality, compliance, and strategic longevity. The balance lies in understanding that each region has unique digital maturity levels and tailoring operational models accordingly.

How do you ensure alignment between technical capability and what local markets actually need?

It starts with listening. Before designing any process or system, we invest time in understanding local behavior, business maturity, and regulatory context. I work closely with field teams to translate real-world needs into scalable digital strategies. Technology should solve local problems not impose global assumptions.

What industry verticals do you see as most ready for accelerated digital modernization?

Manufacturing, education, and hospitality are entering a new wave of digital acceleration driven by automation, personalization, and data insights. Especially post-2024, industries that depend on real-time visibility and customer engagement are rapidly investing in smarter, connected systems.

People, Team Culture & Talent Development

You are passionate about coaching early-stage professionals. What key traits do you develop in future leaders?

I focus on ownership, empathy, and curiosity. I encourage young professionals to think beyond roles to see how their work contributes to the bigger picture. The best leaders are those who lift others while growing themselves. My goal is to help them build resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to learn faster than the world changes.

As a SAFe Scrum Master certified leader, how do you build trust, communication, and collaboration in distributed teams?

Trust is built through clarity and consistency. We maintain open communication through daily syncs and transparent dashboards, but more importantly, we celebrate shared wins. My philosophy is that distance doesn’t weaken collaboration lack of empathy does. A distributed team can perform like a single heartbeat if there’s respect, rhythm, and recognition.

What’s your approach to balancing fast delivery with employee well-being?

Speed without sustainability is failure in disguise. I ensure we plan delivery around realistic capacity, not just timelines. We prioritize smart automation, flexible work environments, and mental health awareness. When teams feel valued and balanced, their output naturally multiplies quality becomes effortless.

Innovation, Strategy & Forward Vision

Plainsurf has evolved significantly in recent years what’s your long-term vision for the company?

Our vision is to create a globally trusted innovation ecosystem that empowers both enterprises and individuals. We aim to generate employment, nurture new talent, and contribute to digital inclusivity. Plainsurf is more than a company it’s a platform where innovation meets purpose, helping businesses grow while uplifting the next generation of technologists.

Which emerging technologies do you believe will reshape business operations by 2027?

AI-driven automation, blockchain identity systems, and low-code enterprise tools will redefine operations. But the next frontier is human-AI collaboration systems that don’t replace people but amplify their intelligence, creativity, and productivity.

What excites you most at the intersection of human creativity and automation?

The potential to create time. Automation doesn’t take jobs; it gives people back time to think, innovate, and build. When creativity meets intelligent automation, it leads to breakthroughs not just in business efficiency, but in human fulfillment.

Personal Reflections

What keeps you motivated in such a dynamic and rapidly changing space?

The impact. Seeing a young engineer grow into a confident leader or a project transform into a success story that’s my fuel. Every day is an opportunity to build something better than yesterday. Change doesn’t intimidate me; it inspires me.

Who has been the most influential mentor in your career and what lesson stayed with you?

I’ve been fortunate to work with visionary leaders who shaped not just my career, but my mindset. Yusuf, my long-time colleague and mentor, has been an incredible influence his balance of technical depth and leadership clarity constantly reminds me what grounded leadership looks like. Rany, our Head of Creative at Innovate Dynamic, inspires me every day with her ability to blend creativity with strategy proving that innovation thrives when art meets logic. And Tanvir, our CEO at Innovate Dynamic, is a true visionary who constantly challenges us to think beyond boundaries and build for impact, not just scale.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned from all of them is that leadership isn’t about authority it’s about accountability, empathy, and purpose. Lead people the way you’d want to be led with trust, respect, and shared vision.

Outside of work, where do you find creativity and energy to lead?

I find energy in people in real conversations, mentorship, and social initiatives. I’m passionate about empowering young and underprivileged talent, helping them find direction and confidence. Giving back keeps me grounded it reminds me that leadership is service.

What legacy do you want to create as a leader and how do you hope to impact the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators?

My goal is to create an ecosystem where innovation equals inclusion where talent, not background, defines success. I want Plainsurf and Innovate Dynamic to stand as examples of how technology can drive employment, education, and empowerment.

If my journey can inspire even a few young minds to take the leap to build, to lead, to give back that will be my legacy. Leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about the lives you impact along the way.
